Who is SebastianStrong?

We fund innovative cancer research for children - SebastianStrong Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit founded in 2017, in memory of 16-year-old cancer warrior Sebastian Ortiz, for the purpose of finding less toxic, more targeted childhood cancer cures. It has received the highest level of recognition for transparency from GuideStar, the world's largest source of information on nonprofit organizations.

Why we do what we do?

Because kids deserve better - Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease for children, yet only 4% of the National Cancer Institute's budget goes to childhood cancers. Sebastian's treatment was over 40 years old, brutal and highly toxic. It took his life in just 14 months.

How do we make a difference?

Our research investment strategy is like no other; we don't compete with other charities, we collaborate with them to fund innovative research that may not otherwise receive funding. We support bold ideas that use innovative methodologies and out-of-the-box approaches. We are proud to share that in our first two years, SebastianStrong has committed to funding 6 research projects. That's a total of $800,000 in research at 5 nationally recognized research institutions, including the University of Miami, Johns Hopkins, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Case Western Reserve University, & the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

Why should you help?  How can you help?

A kid you love could be next - Kids' cancers are different than adult cancers and current treatments are harsh, toxic, and often ineffective. Since 1980, only four new drugs have been approved for specific use on kids. Recently diagnosed children and their families shouldn't have to realize for the first time that curing childhood cancer is NOT a national priority. Please help us give something more than hope...give them the promise of potentially life-saving treatments and cures.  Go to www.sebastianstrong.org to learn more and support the fight against childhood cancer.
